San Francisco Trip Update 021309-021509

So I realized that I still have not made a proper post about my recent trip to San Francisco.

I had put off this trip for about two years and finally decided after getting my bonus at work
that it was time to go. It was not as long as originally planned, but we still got to see a lot and
had a lot of fun! It was well worth getting out there!!

Day 1: Our plane left at 6:30am to arrive at SFO by 8:00am. I honestly hardly slept the night before
from the excitement plus being that it was going to be my first time flying too. The shuttled
picked us up at 4:00am, so I was pretty tired, but the excitement over took the tiredness.
I was soo excited about the whole trip! Anyways, we arrived bright and early. Bought a couple
of SF travel sites books at SFO and went ad grabbed a taxi to the hotel. Once we got to the hotel
we checked in and luckily didn’t have to wait very long for our room, even though we checked in
at 9:00am. After getting settled and checking out the outdoor terrace which was encircled by tall
downtown buildings, we left to go grab breakfast. We walked over to Union Square and stumbled
upon the big double decker red tour bus. Asked some questions to the guide, bought tour tickets and
asked about breakfast places nearby. He pointed us to Lefty O’Douls which was right across the street.
Had a nice breakfast and some irish coffee which was really strong. Went back to the bus to start
out tour.Even though rain was in the forecast, and we did have a few instances of rain throughout
the day, we managed and had an awesome time. We got taken by Chinatown, the Financial District,
North Beach, saw Lombart Street from far away, Fisherman’s Wharf, and crossed Golden Gate Bridge.
Crossing the bridge was definitely the best part of the day. It was so serene and beautiful. We spent
a little time on the other side of the bridge taking photos and taking in the scenery. Getting to see the
city this way was really nice. After getting off the bus we walked around a bit, bought some snacks
and food and made our way back to the hotel room to unwind. We were pretty tired from the day plus
the rain really started to come down at this point so we decided to call it a day and enjoy our view from our room.

Day 2: The following day we got up and ready and made our way to a little diner to get breakfast.
The food was ok,we wished we would have dealt with the line down the street at Sears instead, but
that will be next time. After that we decided to go grab the same tour bus from yesterday in order to
go check out a few more spots. We took it and got off at Fisherman’s Wharf. It was a really nice and
cloudy day by the shore. Took some photos and sat at one of the farthest points overlooking the bridge
and Alcatraz. The point was very peaceful. We then walked over towards Pier 39 and bought a few things
at the gift shop. We needed to go see Ghirardelli Square so we took a walk through the pleasant view of
shops and crab restaurants down there. On the way we passed many art galleries, so the view was enjoyable.
Once we got to the square we walked around to check out the little plaza area and then headed for the shop.
The shop was insanely full! You could honestly barely walk in there without bumping into someone. People
have to have their chocolate right. After picking up some chocolately goodness we went back to the bus pickup
spot and looked back on our day. I also must mention, both days passing by the Civic Center area,
the architecture was just breathtaking. Actually, all the architecture was like this around the city. I loved the
old buildings with the brick walls and large windows overlooking tall buildings and hills. I can only dream of
living in this city someday. Such a beautiful city! Once we got off the bus we made our way to Chinatown.
Had some dinner at a little restaurant and walked around checking out the shops at night. It was really nice.

Day 3: On our last day we got up grabbed some breakfast and got ready to leave. We really did not want to
leave. It was such a nice trip that it was hard to leave. Ever since the trip all I think about is moving out there.
I hope to do this soon, but I know it’s hard to do with finding work and a place. We’ll see how things go. In the
meantime, I do plan to return a few more times, because there is alot more that I want to see!!
